I backlapped my JD 220B just a couple weeks ago. I noticed some brownish tips on the grass blades so I decided to do the paper test. The results were it wasn't cutting paper anymore. I tried tightening the reel to bedknife adjustment but even with too heavy of contact it wasn't cutting paper cleanly. A quick backlap with 180 grit solved my problem.

This is your best answer. I have 4 manual mowers. The Earthwise 7 blade, a McLane 5 blade, and two 10 blade McLane mowers. The Bermuda gets so dense I can't cut below .75 without issues. Looks to me like you may have a couple of problems. 1. One blade is cutting deeper than the rest. 2. Bed knife is not level across the blades. 3. Blades are not sharpened at the same angle. I would start be resharpening the blades and bedknife and then carefully adjust sone that each blade is cutting evenly across the knife.
