This is the only continent where you'll be able to find any Khorium Ore, as such, there are few zones to traverse in order to find said ore, and they are closer together than Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdoms.

I just leveled mining on a new character (didn't bother checking out Rich Thorium Veins). I instead did Smelt Dark Iron from 230-300. Perhaps not the best solution for most players but it works. Buy 40 Dark Iron Ore, 20 Gold Bar, 10 Truesilver Bar, 2 Star Ruby of the auction house. Or perhaps you already have some from your mining ventures.
